doug-peltzmanUpstate New York Potter Doug Peltzman will present free demonstrations at Ceramic Supply Inc.’s Annual Open House on Saturday, November 12.  The Open House will run from 10:00 a.m. through 3:00 p.m. at Ceramic Supply Inc.’s Lodi location.  The event will feature discounts, refreshments, and raffles throughout the day.

Doug Peltzman is a studio potter and educator whose studio located in the Catskill Mountains of New York state.  He works in porcelain and earthenware, creating functional pottery and decorative objects.  Peltzman describes a creative process that has its origin in the ordinary: “I have always let my daily observations find their way into my work. I break things down to their essence (line) and make abstract references of things that inspire me.”  His work is respected as highly crafted and has been featured in many publications.  He has been called upon to serve as juror and curator of several national exhibitions.  A founding member of Objective Clay, Peltzman sees the importance of collaboration with other clay artists.  Objective Clay maintains an online platform that allows members to establish relationships, market their work, and share ideas.unknown

Peltzman’s interest in education extends to his active schedule of workshops at art centers and universities.  Arrowmont, Peters Valley, Goggleworks, Davis & Elkins College, UNT, SUNY New Paltz, The Clay Studio, and The Art School at Old Church are among the many places he has presented.  He has also held adjunct positions at Hartford Art School and Auburn University.

Peltzman is also November’s featured ceramic artist at Chicago’s Lillstreet Gallery.  The Lillstreet Art Center is a renowned community of artists offering educational programs, residencies, and exhibitions in several media.  The Lillstreet Gallery offers three exhibition spaces in Chicago, along with an online gallery and story.  Peltzman’s work will be featured during the month of November.
